The End

Today is handing in day for the brief. This brief has most definitely been my favourite of all the projects that we have done since starting the course in September. When first receiving the brief my first instinct was to incorporate red heart balloons as they link the celebration and the meaning of the Heart Foundation in one.  My main influence during this project has been Tim Walker his work is an inspiration to me. I love his use of colour and how the image looks so glamorous and outrageous. I wanted to create images that celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Heart Foundation in a fun but eye catching manor. I feel i have most defininitely achieved what I set out to do. The location I wanted to look romantic and that when researching the area on the river Dee in Chester that this was the ideal location. The model who I wanted to have a 1950s pin-up style look was dressed in a nautical striped skirt, i thought this would be a good link as we were on location on the river. Also the leopard print top because leopard print is very on trend at the moment and clashed with the red of the balloons. One of my Loves is my Vivienne Westwood jewellery so I also used them in the shoot. Overall I am very happy with the images I have created. I feel this project was more enjoyable than the last as I was able to put down my own ideas and create images that I new would work. The thought of using a blog scared me at the beginning but I have loved using it to view all my ideas and show my research and I would used the my blog again in the future to do this for other projects.

Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World)

This music video has definately been inspired by Tim Walker. The floral back grounds, the balloons, the scene of Rihanna in the water and the tree scene near to the end of the video are all Tim Walker related.

The Tim Walker book has arrived :)

After researching Tim Walker's work I ordered a book of his online. It was £40 but totally worth it the images are amazing and inspiring to me. Here of some of the images I liked the most from his book. I love how effect his images are the colours and how the photographs make you feel.

Schindlers List.

I will be watching the film Schindlers list. Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic drama film about Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saved the lives of more than a thousand Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, and based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally. The image of a small girl at the beginning of the film in a red coat which is the only colour in the film, the rest is in black and white is an important image. The childs body is seen at the end of the film on cart full of dead bodies. This small bit of colour creates an emotional affect on the viewers.

My Mood Board!

Here is a picture I have taken of my mood board to show you a few ideas and images that have caught my eye when researching. I have become obsessed with Tim Walker and I just ordered a book on some of his work. Looking forward to the group tutorial and hopefully get some good feed back from everyone. Bit gutted about not being able to Scott today as some of his work looked really interesting and could have come in useful when doing our shoot but im sure we will get the chance again soon :) get well Scott!

Irving Penn

Irving Penn was an American Fashion photographerwho worked for many years for Vogue. Penns drawings were published in Hapers Bazaar. As his career in photography blossomed he bacame known for post World War 2 feminnie chic and glamour photography.

Norman Parkinson

Today I have been researching fashion photographers including the British photographer Norman Parkinson. Parkinson always maintained he was a craftsman and not an artist. From his early days as a photographer up to his death he remained one of the foremost British portrait and fashion photographers. His work, following the lead of Martin Munkacsi at Harper's Bazaar, revolutionised the world of British fashion photography in the '40s by bringing his models from the rigid studio environment into a far more dynamic outdoor setting. Humour played a central role in many of his photographs which often included himself. As well as magazine work he also created celebrated calendars featuring glamorous young women.

Back to college

I went back to college today were I did my foundation course last year. I was able to use the studio to take some photos of one of the red heart balloons I am using in my shoot. I used the different techinques that Dave and Eve went through with us at the beginning of the week.

Tim Walker

I have been researching the artist Tim Walker for my shoot. His photographs have entranced the readers of Vogue, month by month, for over a decade. Extravagant staging and romantic motifs characterise his unmistakable style. His work is something that inspires me and links strongly witht the type of photographs I want to create on my shoot.

My Model :) The Lovely Amy Brom xxxxxxxxx

This is my beautiful and very good friend Amy. She is a model i have used in the past who has always been very fun to work with. Her Dad is a Photographer so she loves the camera which is a great help. She is also a Fashion Student and she is in her second year at Liverpool John Moores University. She is going to be ideal in creating the look i want for my shoot!

Im starting to get the hang of this blog thing :)

After todays tutorial with Hannah I discussed with her how I have decided to use red heart balloons in my shoot ( in fact i have ordered 50 of them to use.)  The first thing that came to my mind when reading the brief was romance and of course celebration of the 50th Birthday of the British Heart Foundation. Before the tutorial I researched the previous winners of the red for heart competition 2009/10. The images were interesting and gave me a good insite to what would be expected. I feel i would like the photographs to be more fashion related. I have arranged for a model to be used for the shoot. I plan to go out on location in Chester on the River Dee as is a very romantic location. it is the location for many men to propose to their girl friends. Also the fact that Chester is a very beautiful city and many of the city centre buildings could create a good back drop for my shoot. I feel that i would like my images to be black and white but have key objects in red such as the balloons. I have redesigned my blog and plan to carry on doing this over the next few days after the advice from Hannah.

POP!

Burlesque style Balloon Dancing is a cheeky little staged number for Moulin Rouge, Risque or Burlesque themed events
Whats she wearing under her balloons? ...You're just gonna to have to wait and see!
If you're real lucky she’ll let you pop one.As the balloons burst the air fills with glitter and the artists perfect curves sparkle all over as she dances.

This act is a delightful vision in pink and silver from our quintessential show girl in her deliciously cheeky revival of this old time burlesque favourite. I have researched this form of strip tease as it is a form of using balloons as clothing. It could be something i may look at incorporating in my shoot. An the imaga of Lady Gaga? well I coudn't not included this, it gives a modern twist to the burlesque look.

British Heart Foundation: Red for Heart

This is the title for my new project. Red for Heart. Im excited to get started on the project today I have looked at the previous winners and runners up of the competition. I want to focus on the celebration of the fact that in 2011 it will be The British Heart Foundations 50th Birthday. I have started collecting images for my mood board today which i will upload in the next couple of days. First thing that came into my mind was incorporating red heart balloons into my shoot. I have looked at a few websites as the plan would be to use a large amount of them as I think this will look effective.
